Somehow, our expectations from machines are very low.
A few years ago, when the first generation of conversational AI’s started to pop up, we all got super excited by the concept of chatbots taking over the world and making support agents useless. It was followed by GPT-3’s ability to write given a prompt. Some said copywriters would become irrelevant. These days, it’s the ability to superimpose images. Some say it will make artists unnecessary.
Interestingly, all of these are actions/abilities that we consider pretty much basic for most humans. That’s not what makes us special. What makes us special is the ability to think without a prompt. To write a story without someone giving us the plot, or to draw a masterpiece without being told what style to follow.
Humans can’t be replaced that easily! And if you somehow believe it can be – then your expectation out of machines is too low.
